Abstract
It was shown that selection of fired (ceramic) flux for broad-zoned surface deposition with band electrodes was to be done wit due regard to additional requirements for the physical properties of the molten slag. Higher melting temperature and viscosity of the slag increased the current-carrying capacity and decreased flux consumption
