Abstract
The paper describes a new approach to the accounting of channel walls roughness on the basis of formal definition of the concept of roughness. Any surface roughness depends on the size, shape and arrangement of grains forming roughness. Therefore, by measuring the magnitude of l ? roughness radius, m,? ? the density distribution of roughness, 1/m and 1/m2, ? ? roughness, that are taking into account the shape and relative position, it is possible to characterize any riverbed and properly conduct the forecasting of channel capacity and accurately distribute the water through the delivery points.
