Abstract
Article is devoted to the relations between law enforcement agencies and telecommunications service providers about executing requests for interception of private communications. The Council of the European Union regulation practice about this activity and domestic Ukrainian experience in this field are analyzed. Resolution on the lawful interception of telecommunications (1995), Resolution on law enforcement operational needs with respect to public telecommunication networks and services (2001), Directive concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (2002) are investigated. The main goal of this study is to determine general directions of improvement of Ukrainian regulatory system for telecommunications interception, as well as in other countries
