Abstract

The article deals with such current topic as same-sex marriage. The author, practicing psychologist and sexologist, makes an attempt to answer the questions about homophobes, the social attitude to gay people (and its reasons) and complicated life of gay people in Russia. The author presents the results of conversations with the members of LGBT community. They reflect difficulties faced by same-sex couples and their attitude to family and marriage. The author makes a conclusion that gay people are mostly like heterosexuals; they have more things in common than differences. Taking into account this fact, the author suggests reconsidering the above-described situation and appeals for the reader to think over this issue. The article is significant by its accessible language, interesting and objective charac-ter. The article is intended for specialists and general readers.
