THE VIEWS OF PRE-SERVICE GEOGRAPHY TEACHERS TOWARD INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS OF TURKEY IN NEAR FUTURE: AN ANALYSIS OF GEOGRAPHIC LITERACY

Abstract
In this research, it was examined the undergraduate geography students’ geographic literacy in the context of Turkey’s international affairs through their sketch maps qualities. 147 undergraduate geography students were participated from Marmara University, Gazi University, Dokuz Eylül University, Necmettin Erbakan University, and Atatürk University. After some questions had been asked to students with respect to demographic information and geographic literacy, it was asked to draw a world map associated with Turkey’s international affairs. The data were analyzed via qualitative and quantitative analyze techniques. According to research results, undergraduate students thought that Turkey has an important position in the world and neighbouring countries in terms of balance of power. In addition to this, they emphisazied the relationship of Turkey with different country and country groups depending upon its political, economical and cultural affairs.
