Need for The Protection of Witnesses in India

Unfortunately in our country, there is no law relating to the protection of witnesses and the trend is such that the witnesses do not wish to come to the courts to give their statements and evidences because of the fact that they feel unsafe. Even if they come to the court, they tend to turn hostile, thereby opening avenues for the accused to be acquitted.
