SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF ENGLISH PHRASEOLOGICAL ANTONYMS

The given article is devoted to the description of the semantic graduality of the English phraseologisms. It characterizes the criteria identifying the intensifi cation (less- ening) the real sign. It describes some types of semantic relations in the English phraseology. It analyses different aspects of the situation in which the semantic graduality is represented. The article states that the phraseological groups can be uniform and diverse. Then the article describes the genuine graduality and pseudo-graduality. It gives the difference between the graduality and phraseological variants. It sets up uniform phraseological line and diverse one. It sets up a number of indicators of systemic nature of the phraseological stock
