Abstract
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) signal modelling and image reconstruction of a marine target are addressed. Based on three-dimensional (3-D) SAR geometry time dependent kinematic equations are derived. A linear frequency modulated (LFM) waveform and SAR signal model are analytically described. A 3-D target’s reflectivity function that describes the geometry or image of the target is defined. SAR geometry, target geometry and SAR signal model are used to create an image reconstruction algorithm. The algorithm includes two Fourier transforms and phase correction procedure. Polynomial description of phase correction function is given. Image entropy is used to evaluate the quality of the image. To verify SAR geometry, kinematic of marine target, SAR signal modelling and image reconstruction algorithm a numerical experiment is carried out.
