Experience in Teaching Pharmacology to Foreign Students at Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University and the Importance of Using Visual Aids

Abstract

Pharmacology as one of the basic medical sciences is studied by students of all medical faculties all over the world. Deep understanding of the processes occurring in the human body under the influence of drugs and the possible adverse reactions is necessary for medical staff of any branch of medicine and pharmacy. Mastering profound theoretical knowledge and practical skills in pharmacology by students is a necessary prerequisite for subsequent successful mastering clinical disciplines and further effective medical practice abroad. This article described our own experience and actions taken to improve methods of teaching pharmacology to English-speaking students. Some examples of peculiarities of teaching certain sections and their possible visual aids were shown. Some aspects of working with foreign students that determined the importance of wide implementation of interactive learning, oral and written tests, and scientific debates into the learning process and involvement of English-speaking students into scientific circles were analyzed.
