Abstract
A graduate of the flight school ?Mircea Cantacuzino“, Mariana Drăgescu was part of the ?White Squadron“, a sanitary squadron that participated in the Second World War. As a one of its pilots, Mariana Drăgescu had to possess a lot of knowledge in various domains, being on board the plane not only a pilot, but also a nurse, a navigator and a mechanic. After the events on 23rd August 1944, she participated together with the whole Romanian aviation in the battles for the liberation of Transylvania, and then in those held in Hungary and Czechoslovakia, performing more than 25 missions. She was integrated in the 108th Air Transport Squadron of the First Romanian Air Corp, transporting injured people, medicines, couriers, and important documents for the commandments of the big units.
