Why another journal in medicine?

Why another journal in medicine?? Why not! The last few decades have witnessed a veritable explosion in medical information. It is now probably beyond the capacity of any given specialist to be completely abreast of all the advances in his chosen field. Lexicographer Samuel Johnson said, and ldquo;Knowledge is of two kinds and hellip;we know a subject ourselves or we know where we can find it. and rdquo; In the real world, the craft lies as much in possessing knowledge that can be effectively applied, as much as in knowing where to access it. In spite of the incredible data that resides within the World Wide Web, researchers and practitioners of the medical sciences regularly find themselves at unexpected cul de sacs. Notwithstanding an astonishing abundance of journals that serve medicine and its allied fields, there remains a vast cache of truly unique experiences and mdash;and of potential answers and mdash;that frequently goes untapped. Inquisition into science for the sole sake of the betterment of humanity remains one of most worthy causes there is. And, though it seems sometimes that and ldquo; and hellip;not even knowledge (is) foolproof and rdquo; , the only answer lies in the continued expansion of the knowledge base. The scope of the journal has deliberately been kept very wide, and this is one reason why we have straightaway been able to come up with articles of such rare quality. Needless to say, all these are original and peer-reviewed. Forthcoming issues will also carry critical reviews, special articles and feedback from readers. The journal is also open-access, consistent with our philosophy of seamless medical learning. The attempt at a new periodical of this quality and footprint is in itself a massive exercise, and a feat of unadulterated teamwork. Our young and vibrant editorial team is backed up by enormously experienced advisors and reviewers and mdash;whose domain ranges from genetics to dentistry, and whose sphere of influence extends right across the globe. It is therefore with considerable satisfaction that we announce the advent of this journal. With this, the first issue itself, we appear to have struck the mother lode: with a heavy inflow of contributions already, the vein promises to never run dry.
