THE POSITION OF RIDDLE IN CHILDREN LITERATURE AND A COMPILATION OF RIDDLE STUDY

Abstract
There are several genres in children's literature sources. Tales, stories, myths, riddles, nursery rhymes, fables are shown between genres like these. Riddle also appears as an important species in terms of children's literature. Riddles have a major impact in the development of children's language skills, enrich their imagination and emotions and winning their problem-solving skills. Riddles have their own tradition method of asking questions and answering. Especially while children are answering riddles their curiosity rise to the highest level on the part of the riddle asked and answered. They do mental gymnastics considering the answers to the riddles, they try to reach a conclusion in mind with the tips given. While doing these It is given the opportunity to learn to the kids with having fun. In this study primarily it was focused on the role and importance of the riddles in terms of children's literature. Also in the study a compilation work of riddles told by the Hacıbayramvillage in Çorum provience Bayat town. By doing field study ıt was aimed to reach this mentioning riddles in this region and intended to evaluate them in terms of children's literature. The data obtained through interviews from the first source of field study were recorded with the recorder. Later the recorded data is transcribed exactly to writing. Descriptive analysis is used in the method of the study. Data were examined by descriptive analysis and riddles have been categorized. In the obrained data the slang riddles that might be objectionable for children have been kept unclassified. A total of six themes have been created, the data obtained under the theme written in such a way that compliance with these themes. Themes are defined as riddles "Related to person", "related to animals", "related to plants", "related to nature", "related to items" and "related to the religious concepts". The riddles which take part in child literature sources are thought to be important in terms of intelligence and memory improvement of language development of the riddles located between cognac of children's literature, social development, these compiled riddles will provide a positive contribution to the literature on imparting the development of children.
