MORPHOMETRIC PARAMETERS OF THE PAROTID GLAND AT SPIRAL COMPUTER TOMOGRAPHY

Abstract
The morphometric parameters of parotid gland of 72 adults without parotid pathology were carried out at spiral computer tomography. There were 62.5% of men and 37.5% female from them. A length and thickness of the parotid gland were measured at axial slices in level of zygomatic arch, in level of meatus into mandibulary channel and in level of mandibulary angle. A high was measured as maximal size in sagital and frontal slices. A measurement of diameter of parotid duct, maximal sizes of length and thickness of additional parotid glands was also spent. An expressed variability of sizes of parotid gland depend on sex, shape of the skull and age of the patients was revealed. Correlation between morphometric parameters of the parotid gland and craniometric parameters was absent. A direct strong and middle correlation between morphometric parameters of the parotid gland of right and left sides were revealed.
