Abstract
The territorial cessions of 1940 required exceptional protective measures for all kinds of refugees, including priests. This article focuses on what happened to many of these people, disinherited overnight and thrown out of their houses and belongings after the re-occupation of Bessarabia and North Bukovina by the USSR and of the Cadrilater by Bulgaria (in the summer of 1940 and in the following year).
