Tingkat Resepsi Mahasiswa Fakultas Bahasa Dan Seni Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta Terhadap Budaya Eropa

This article aims to describe the level of understanding and appreciating of students in the Language and Art Faculty, Yogyakarta State University, to European culture in the beginning of 21st century. Subject of this research are students of Language and Art Faculty YSU that consist of eleven study programs in 2010/2011 academic year. The object of this research is European culture’s aspect. The data were collected by test and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative technique. The result of the research indicates that the understanding level of students in the Language and Art Faculty, YSU, to European culture in the beginning 21st century is just 22.0%. The appreciating level is 37.5%. In average, the level of understanding and appreciating is just only 29.75%. This level is low. According to literature reception, that achievement could be examined some factors caused. In other side, to increase this level, it needs some efforts like learning model and module to introduce more on European culture to student of Language and Art Faculty, YSU. Learning model and module is not only to introduce European culture, but also to strengthen nationalism for Indonesian young generation.
