Abstract
The present Earthmoving equipment industry is booming at a faster pace. Owing to this is a demand for advanced stability targets, reduced product expansion cycle time and lesser design costs. Numerical methods like FE Simulations happen to be an effective and reliable tool to meet this demand. The work explains the use of CAE software in the modeling and analysis of Rock Drilling Machine gear box assembly. Like gears, housing, bearing, shafts etc. The gearbox assembly includes important transmission components like gears, shafts and bearings. Thus the strength of the each part of the gearbox is very important while the gear box is functioning in the field. If there are any failure in any part of the gearbox it is very difficult to rectify this problem and it takes very long time to resume the work stopped due to this problem, because the rock drillers generally works in remote areas like, fields, deserts, mining locations, etc,. Therefore, while designing such components extra care should be taken and make sure that, these designed parts should work for the designed load or strength.
