Abstract
Domestic violence is a devastating social problem that affects every segment of the population. While system responses are primarily targeted towards adult victims of abuse, increasing attention is now focused on the children who witness domestic violence1. Many times children suffer silently, and with little support. It is a problem of major public concern and has gained wide attention among paediatricians, dentists, psychiatrists, social workers, forensic pathologists, and professionals. This article reports the oral and dental aspects of physical and sexual abuse and dental neglect and the role of physicians and dentists in evaluating such conditions.
