Transformasi Bentuk Fisik pada Tipologi Fasade Masjid Jami’ Malang

“Masjid Jami 'Malang” is the one of mosque that has dynamicly changes in its typology. Architecturally “Masjid Jami 'Malang” accomodated couple typologies simultaneously. First, universal typology that becomes the characteristics of every mosque and second, local typology that becomes characteristics of a mosque in the surrounding area. It become interesting for further study regarding the various combination of Masjid Jami’ Malang facade typologies and it transformation into new formations. The research was conducted through a literature review from relevant sources, and strengthened by direct observation to the object. A descriptive analysis was use for the research method. The research results stated that the forms combination with both universal and local characteristics was carried out by graduately displaying the dome, iwan, arches and minaret as the mosque universal characteristics, while local characteristics were shown by maintaining the tajug roof and the use of wooden material.
