Abstract
In highly developed countries up to 80-90% patients suffering from coronary artery disease currently take statins. However, they are not introduced widely into clinical practice in our country, there are several reasons for it: high price, hepatotoxicity and others. Investigations on 150 rats show the effect of the reproduced preparation of lovastatin - ?Choletar? on main functional liver enzymes: ALT, AST, GGT and alkaline phosphatase. The possible mechanisms of hepatic lesion after lovastatin administration are discussed. It is concluded that the study of GGT and alkaline phosphatase activities (as cholestases markers) in clinical practice is expedient for safety optimization of statins application.
