Abstract
Taking into consideration the data of the latest literature we can say that hernia disease (in combination with other phenotypic signs) is one of the criteria of connective tissue dysplasia syndrome. It was proved that formation of the hernia results from asthenia of abdominal transverse fascia, which is the main element, framework of the posterior wall of the inguinal canal, which determines resistance to intraperitoneal pressure. Transverse fascia is the structure of connective tissue the major elements of which are collagen and elastin.
