Abstract

The ecological constituent of the content of General Chemistry at secondary schools of Slovak Republic is considered with the example of such themes as: ?Classification of substances and their properties?, ?Water?, ?Air?, and ?Fuel?. It has been shown in this research, that such an approach to the formation of the content of school chemical education is aimed at school students’s recognition of the special value of Chemistry as a science forming the ecological outlook; chemical knowledge as a core element of the knowledge of the integrity of the surrounding world; personal involvement into the ecological problems of the environment, necessity to live in harmony with nature.
