Abstract
The article is devoted to the interpretation of the central image of the picture of I. N. Kramskoi Christ in the Desert by the 19th-century Russian writers. The focus is on the analysis of the sketch about this painting made by I. A. Goncharov. The research leads to the conclusion about an important creative, aesthetical and worldview commonality between Goncharov and Kramskoi.
