Abstract
This article examines a motif of a woman’s abduction by a Serpent, widely spread in Russian fairy tales, which also appears in the apocryphal "Heroic Deeds of Theodore Tiron". The author tries to compare this Old Russian apocryphal work with folk fairy-tale texts.
