Abstract
The author of the article regards the meaning of status in the modern environment of mass communication. The features of influence of mass media on the public were demonstrated. The analysis of the function of the public attention associated with morality issue was made. At the end of the article possible effects of status influence on public opinion were recited and potential changes in legal and social policy affected by different information campaigns.
