A Comparative Study of Agricultural Coverage in Daily Newspapers

Abstract
Agriculture sector is unquestionably the largest livelihood provider in India. Agriculture has always been considered as the back bone of our economy. With new era Information and communication technology plays a vital role in the development Indian agriculture. Communication systems have brought tremendous changes in world economic scenario. Today, India has second rank in agricultural output. India became the world’s 7th largest exporter of agricultural products in 2013. India has an important part in world market, especially for cotton, sugar and rice.1
The purpose of this study was to investigate the coverage of agriculture news in Indian newspapers. Thus, this research addressed the questions such as what is the proportion of agricultural news in four Indian newspapers. Content analysis of four English and Hindi daily newspapers i.e. The Hindustan Times, The Tribune, Dainik Jagran and Dainik Bhaskar are done for six months.
