N. D. BEKLEMISHEV IS THE SENIOR DOCTOR OF THE DISTRICT CLINIC, THE CHAIRMAN OF MEDICAL SOCIETY AND SANITARY EXECUTIVE COMMISSION IN THE GRODNO PROVINCE

Abstract
Achievements of doctor N. D. Beklemishev (1856-1915) in professional and public activities in the Grodno province from 1879 for 1915 are presented in the article. Having become the senior doctor in 1882, he managed to build a new complex of special buildings for a district clinic in Grodno. In 1898 upon his initiative it was expanded to 125 hospital beds. Over time alongside with clinical units, profile laboratories and offices were opened by him in the clinic. It allowed him to render help to medical institutions of the province more widely. Not being limited to work in the clinic, he rendered medical service around the city, helping poor people as well. Despite a lack of time, he was attracted to permanent execution of public positions:since 1893 ? the chairman of the city sanitary and executive commission, since 1902 ? the president of Society of doctors of the Grodno province. Much was done by him for beautification and improvement of sanitary conditions of Grodno. He was respected and appreciated not only by his colleagues, but also local authorities and citizens. In 1915 he suddenly died at evacuation of the clinic to the Kaluga province.
