Abstract
Forests and Tribals are mutually dependent on each other. Tribals live in forest, get their revenue from forest and defend the forests. Here Forest Tribal interface is dealt with especially for Narayanpur district of Chhatisgarh state. Narayanpur is a new incarnated (2011) predominantly tribal district; living close to forest. Tribals of this district are completely dependent on the forest for their daily needs. The role of NTFPs Minor Forest Produce becomes more noteworthy for less agriculture dependent communities with minute land holders residing in remote forests. Collecting and selling of NTFPs, Minor Forest Produce is considered as an important way of using vegetation in sustainable manner and maintain barter system. Eighty (80) economically important species utilized by the local people have been recorded from the Narayanpur district.
