FEATURES WORK OF WOMEN ON THE COAL INdUSTRY

Abstract
Problem setting. This paper deals with the problems of legal regulation of women’s work in coal mines, namely: gender equality in the admission of women to perform underground work and the compliance of the legal provisions of the Labor Code of Ukraine with the provisions of ILO Conventions concerning the employment of women in the performance of underground works are studied and analyzed. Target of research. The given theme is revealed through a comparative analysis of the historical experience, international instruments and current national legislation. Article’s main body. On this basis, the author concluded that there is the necessity to introduce the changes to current labor legislation, in particular, Article 174 of the Labor Code of Ukraine regarding the clarification and expansion of the list of categories of works, which allow women’s work in the coal industry. In addition, it is proposed to legislate a clear list of underground works under the classification of occupations where the use of female labor is allowed. Conclusions and prospects for the development. In his article, the author noted that the introduction of the proposed amendments to Article 174 of the Labor Code of Ukraine and the development of the list of posts of executives, professionals and other workers connected with underground operations, where, as an exception, the use of female labor is permitted, taking into account national and international experience, will improve the gender situation in the coal industry, will minimize abuses on the part of executives of coal companies while employing women, will increase the competition for vacancies in the coal industry connected with underground works and will improve the professional level of these workers. Such innovations will bring Ukrainian labor legislation to European standards.
