Abstract
Urban water system management is a complex task which takes place within a number of constraints. It is particularly related to developing countries with limited amount of available data when important decisions have to be made regardless of such unfavourable situation. Therefore, for decisions regarding urban water system management it is important to know the consequences on all segments of the management system in the future period. Various methods and models of system engineering are used in order to achieve this. The work presents the application of System Dynamics (SD) methodology for analyse of the urban water system. The methodology was implemented in the water system of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The system dynamics model is a mathematical realization of the developed interactions among different system variables, quality and quantity, over time and is comprised of two physical subsystems namely water supply and wastewater and subsystem.
