REVIEW ON BIOSENSOR TECHNOLOGIES

This reviewrevives concepts of construction and operation of biosensors. Combination ofsuitable immobilization technique with effective transducer gives rise to anefficient biosensor. Hence, various immobilization techniques are compared tounderstand which one can lead manufacturing of an efficient biosensor. Alongwith, various transduction methods are also briefed. Amongst all kinds ofbiosensors, electrochemical biosensors are known to be superior to manytedious, costly and complicated techniques; therefore, the manuscript mainlyfocuses on different electrochemical techniques employed in biosensing. Typesof electrochemical biosensors, voltammetric, potentiometric and impedimetrichave been detailed out and explained with critical analysis of the work donebefore. Moreover, voltammetric technique has been described outstandingly inthis review with illustrative examples and figures. Afterwards, with asummarized history of electrochemical biosensors, future prospects have beendescribed to present the predicted life after a few years with thesebiosensors.
