Abstract
In any opencast mining project, the major share of initial capital investment goes towards the excavation and transportation equipment. Hence it is very important to analyse the performance of those equipment, at regular intervals to achieve cost-effectiveness in excavation and transportation operations.
In this paper, an attempt is made to calculate the percentage availability and utilisation of shovel, dumpers and dozer, employed in an opencast mine and to analyse the contributing factors to improve the overall equipment performance.
