Abstract
Water distribution in adequate quantity at required pressure is the prime requirement of design of network. It is found from the literature, that stochastic methods gives better results in optimizing the water distribution network (WDN) than deterministic methods. The optimize solution obtained from any stochastic method depends on the parameter values associated with that method. In the present work a program is developed in MATLAB environment to optimize the water distribution system using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. The analysis is carried out using finite element method.
