Abstract
Water pollution h as become a huge problem worldwide, mostly by the discharge of industrial effluents to the aquatic environment . The industries such as textile, leather, paper, printing and plastic are the major industries discharging the waste water s with highly toxic substances which influence the quality of soil and water environments . Dyes are the major toxic substances in all industrial waste water an d it is highly carcinogenic to human beings and other soil and water living things . The physical, chemical and biological methods for treating effluent s take time and to be cost effective, the use of cheap and ecofriendly absorbents are the alternatives to solve this problem .
