IMPACT OF FISHING HARBOUR ON THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF FISHERMEN IN MUTTOM KANYAKUMARI DISTRICT

A fishing harbour offers enormous opportunity for t he promotion of common fishermen.The main objectives of the study are to assess the impact of fishing harbour on the living conditions of fishermen in terms of employment and income, ascertain the extent to which the facilities created at the fishing harbours/fish landing centres are avail ed of by the fishermen, and identify the problem faced by the fishermen before and after harbour. Th e study used both primary and secondary data. The primary data was collected from the respondents through schedule method. The secondary data was collected from prestigious journals and reports . Convenient sampling method is used to select the respondents.
