Abstract
Emotions and conflicts are part and parcel of human life. They drive each other. The study aims at measuring the levels of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and conflict ?handling modes of employees from Automobile and IT industries in Chennai. Three hundred employees from Automobile and IT industries participated in this study. Emotional Intelligence was measured using the EQ ?Test (Chadha, 2006). Conflict ?handling modes were measured using Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI). The data from EQ ?Test and TKI were analyzed to study the impact of EI on conflict management. Results indicated a positive association between age groups, married and unmarried, educational qualifications, departments on levels of emotional intelligence. Results also showed a significant difference between age groups, designations and Automobile industry towards preferred modes of conflict management.
