Abstract
In this study, total phosphorus (TP) inactivation b y using Alum at lake inlet was carried out. Jar test was used to optimize alum dose and effect of pH was studied. The tests resulted in immediate improvements in water quality. Tests showed that alum of 15-20 mg/L was sufficient to decrease TP from around 0.1 mg/L to below 0.025 mg/L, which is limiting value for eutrophication. Test study is also conducted to see the effect of pH on alum, it is seen that at a pH of 6, alum dose application ca n be reduced to between 5-10 mg/L.
