Abstract
The article considers the issue of presenting authentic information by non-fiction television programmes on the example of the materials about the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The concerns related to scientific data processing and adequate representation in mass media are discussed. A journalist becomes a popularizer of science as he or she is qualified to bring to wide audience scientific facts made easy. In the article different types of programmes about Yakutia are analyzed, where journalists have made errors or mistakes in factual da-ta. The options of responsible sources of information are suggested.
