Abstract
The article identifies the theoretical propositions about the features of horticulture industry and the formation and use of the resource potential in this sphere. The efficient use of the resource potential in horticulture is an objective necessity and an important prerequisite for the industry development. One of the main features of modern gardening functioning is quantitative, qualitative and structural imperfection of its resource potential, which is caused by large losses of resources due to the difficult financial situation of households.
