Abstract

The author makes a detailed analysis of Alyosha Karamazov’s speech at the stone, compares it with Ivan’s speech in the tavern, and leads to the idea what Dostoevsky meant by the term the whole picture: the whole picture includes not only the recognition of evil, but also the potential reality of good and goodness in human nature.
