FORMATION OF INTEREST TO THE HISTORY OF HOMELAND IN RUSSIA IN THE FIRST HALF OF XIX CENTURY

This article discusses the factors that infl uenced the increase in interest in the history of Russia in the fi rst half of the XIX century. Patriotic War of 1812 and the Decembrist uprising in 1825 are highlighted as the crucial events. The consequence was the surge of patriot- ism that led to the needs of knowledge of own country and history. This was refl ected in an in- crease of the number of historical works, the development of national folklore, ethnography, etc. Scientists have begun to show interest in the Russian provinces, to go there with the expeditions
