Abstract
Energy consumption is one of the most important performance metrics for mobile ad hoc networks because it directly relates to the operational lifetime of the network. Most research e?orts are focused on performance comparisons and tradeo? studies between various low-energy routing and self-organization protocols, while keeping other system parameters ?xed. As a result, very little has been revealed about the relationship between the aggregate energy consumption. Despite the fact that devices are getting smaller and more efficient, advances in battery technology have not yet reached the stage where a mobile computer can operate for days without recharging. While research is on-going to build long-lasting batteries, it is wonder if there is an electrochemical limit. If so, then advanced power consumption techniques are necessary. Hence, this paper presents through light on factors reduces energy consumption and prolonging battery life Power conservation techniques at various layers and energy efficient routing technique.
