Abstract
This investigation represents the comparative performance of EDFA and RAMAN amplifier in dense wavelength division multiplexing system with fiber non linearity. The system is simulated for 384 users and NRZ-RC modulation format is kept in case of RAMAN amplifier and RZ-RC modulation format is kept in case of EDFA amplifier. In addition, we investigate the performance of the system with and without fiber non linearity effect and amplifier noise versus different input power level. The proposed system gives the best performance till 118 km and 102 km with EDFA amplifier and RAMAN amplifier with and without fiber non linearity effect and amplifier noise respectively. Various results are shown to justify these results.
