EPIDEMIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF OSTEOPOROSIS AMONG THE POPULATION OF THE LOWER VOLGA REGION

The analysis of the main epidemiological characteristics of osteoporosis in Lower Volga Region by method of the one-stage retrospective analysis of case historys of 10 550 patients (high-risk group) of the Center for diagnostics and treatment of osteoporosis was for the first time carried out in this article. The decrease in density of bone stock below age norm is revealed at 6145 people (58,25 %). Among the patients with osteoporosis, the prevalence of hip, vertebrae and forearm fractures considerably exceeded the average figures.
