Abstract
In the article the causes of changes in the hydrological regime of of the Syr-Darya river are investigated. It was found that natural processes in the lower reaches of the Syr-Darya received additional acceleration as a result of human impact on water bodies. Currently, the problem of water shortage and floods come again, and they are connected only by human activities, although these activities should be primarily aimed at reducing the risk to the entire population of the basin. This problem today is an obstacle not only for the ecological restoration of the river basin, but also for the sustainable development of agriculture in the region.
