Abstract
The article provides an analysis of the first German grammar books appeared in Germany in XV to XVI centuries for teaching reading and writing in the mother tongue. These grammar books give early descriptions of phonetics, orthography and syntax of the German language based on humanistic Latin tradition on the one hand, and on the other on the involvement of colloquial German phrases.
