Abstract
The article is devoted to the issue of responsibility of intelligentsia before the folk, reflected in the works of Russian and Kazakh writers of the twentieth century. In the work we set goal to consider the moral principles of the intelligentsia, the relationship between the educated of Russian and Kazakh society in the works of D. Granin, V. Dudintsev and R. Seisenbaev, to reveal the attitude of intellectuals to science, their duty. Comparison of characters of different authors can conclude that master of words not departed from the principles of realism and artistic form reflected as the inconsistency of the time, so allegiance to the moral ideals of the best part of the intelligentsia.
