Abstract
The article provides an analysis of the category of traditions in ethnic musical culture of Kazakhstan. The notions of Kazakh musical folklore are defined. The traditional folklore genres that in any respect relate to the solution of the issue of human self-affirmation and ethnos and that comprise the attributes of the personal lifestyle are considered.
