Banking Panic in Ukraine: drivers, dynamics and consequences

This article investigates the banking panic phenomenon during Ukrainian systemic crisis of 2014-2015. Retrospective analysis of the bank deposit outflows dynamics was conducted, taking into account the banks’ solvency level and origin of owners. Particular attention is paid to the different bank response to panic, role of deposit rates and informational contamination channel in realization of the systemic risk. On the basis of analysis some recommendations for Ukrainian bank regulators, managers, savers and counterparties were made.
