Abstract
Determination of process parameters and maximum utility of the resources are the two main concerns while designing the manufacturing process for the products. The process parameters affect the final product shape and aesthetic look; whereas the utility refers to the output. The present study is devoted to the development of ANN models for the analysis of the honing process applied to an actual industrial component, namely the connecting rod of a motor bike. The surface quality of the honed components is measured with the help of a Talysurf Intra machine. Traditionally accepted measure of surface roughness is Center Line Average (Ra) and therefore the same has been adopted for the present study.
