Abstract
In this paper, it is shown that polymer-SOTS have a decisive influence on the formation of the state of the surface layer of the steel during its mechanochemical treatment: help to create a favorable structurally stressed state, the formation of residual compressive stresses in the processing of hardened steel in the surface layer are specific structures impede the development of cracks, improve the surface microgeometry. The paper has been allocated a number of problems. Among them, the most important - finding the actual composition of the gaseous products from the conversion of the polymer additive SOTS in the cutting area, and evaluation of the interaction of the chemical elements that make up the gas with the surface of the workpiece.
